Persia: Ancient Iran and the Classical World (Los Angeles, 6 April
2022–8 August 2022).
Ancient Iran, historically known as Persia, dominated western Asia for over a millennium (ca. 550 BCE to 650 CE), with three native dynasties controlling a vast, complex empire. As part of the Getty Museum’s program The Classical World in Context, this exhibition examines the cultural and artistic intersections among Iran, Greece, and Rome by considering a diverse range of objects from royal sculpture to historical documents in the collections from major museums in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
