Description: Stone artefact, trapezoid in shape and rectangular in
section, with rounded edges. It bears a perforated suspension hole on the
upper, narrower part, which is circular in section, has a slightly hour-glass-shaped
profile and a diameter from 2.3 to 2.8 cm. Horizontal, parallel grooves are
discerned on the inner walls of the hole, possible processing traces of its
drilling. The surface is smoothed, even polished in some areas, bearing very
fine incisions, possible use wear traces of the object or of its surface
treatment. All the sides, even the narrow ones, are covered with incised
decoration: successive crooked lines create zigzag motifs.
This particular object, elaborately manufactured, probably was used as a
weight, either for weaving (loom-weight) or for fishing activities (fishing net
weight or anchor).
