Ηλικία σημαίνει... μια βόλτα γύρω από τον Ήλιο! Άριστη αρχαία ελληνική αστρονομική γνώση του ηλιοκεντρικού συστήματος!

"What is your age?" ...in Greek we ask: "Ποια είναι η ηλικία σου;" the word 'ηλικία' is a composite noun from 'ήλιος' (sun) and the verb 'κίω' which means to wind, to meander, to wrap/twist around...
One sees clearly how our beautiful Greek language embeds Hellenic wisdom... we knew, (even before the Pythagorean philosopher Philolaos of Magna Grecia - Grande Ellade did state the heliocentric system), that the earth is not the center of the world, it revolves around the sun and we knew how long it takes... there are many references from the Greeks who use words like 'έλιξ-έλικας' (helix), 'ελικοειδής' (spiral) etc to describe celestial objects' motion and 'ελικιά' (περιέλιξις, "winding") for age that became 'ηλικία' today, to describe how many spires are there in one 's spiral movement around the sun...
"Τὴ γλῶσσα μοῦ ἔδωσαν ἑλληνική... τὸ σπίτι, φτωχικὸ, στὶς ἀμμουδιὲς τοῦ Ὁμήρου..." As Elytis expresses it in the often quoted lines: "the language, Hellenic, they gave me; ...the house, poor, on Homer's shores..." (Elytis 1974: 30-1): his home is humble, yet his tongue is Greek; the Greek language and his humble home on Homer's shores have been given to him;

...they are his birthright!!!
